Community Media Consultant
Carol Harper has been a part of the world of community media and citizen journalism since 2001. She was a reporter, copy editor and columnist for the Calaveras Times, Gold Country Times, and a reporter for the Ledger Dispatch. She founded Amador Community News in April 2007.
She moved to Nashville, TN in 2008, and was a member (Soprano I) of The Nashville Choir and the Tennessee Marine Family, participating in and coordinating events such as Nashville's National Day of Prayer, The Fallen Heroes Memorial Ride, In God We Trust, Project Homeless Connect and many others. While with the Nashville Choir, she sang for several events and projects for Nashville artists such as Erica Lane, Shelly E. Johnson, Ricky Skaggs, Alison Krauss and Emmylou Harris.
Carol returned to Amador County, California in 2010 and became the Music Director at Trinity Episcopal Church of Sutter Creek, continuing Amador Community News in networking and supporting local businesses, community groups and non-profit organizations. She has recently partnered with Kam Merzlak of RTV and photojournalist Bill Lavallie of the Sierra News Bulletin.
Carol moved back to her hometown of Riverton, Wyoming in 2017 and started her own blog, Coffee Pong. She continues her efforts to educate and network businesses, community groups and individuals for the cause of community media and the principles of citizen journalism under the First Amendment of the US Constitution.
